Surfside will offer free buses to Metricon from the southern Gold Coast locations of Tweed Heads, Coolangatta, Bilinga, Burleigh Heads and from the northern locations of Biggera Waters, Southport and Surfers Paradise. Full details can be found at the Gold Coast Homeless Connect Facebook page.

Elizabeth Fritz AM, patron of the Gold Coast Homeless Network, says support from Surfside Buslines was invaluable to the running of the event.

“Surfside’s contribution to Homeless Connect is vital to the success of the event and we are delighted to have them once again provide important bus transport from key locations across the Gold Coast to get to the event,” she says.

Surfside Buslines General Manager Martin Hall said public transport played an important role in connecting the Gold Coast community.

“Millions of people every year use public transport to get to school and work and to access essential services and we are proud to play a small part in helping some of our most vulnerable citizens the chance to access support at Homeless Connect,” he says.

The bus company has also donated $7000 to the Gold Coast Community Fund (GCCF) to strengthen the Fund’s financial support of the Homeless Connect event, which has amounted to $71,000 since 2013.

“It is because of incredible donations such as this that we are able to help people who are struggling right across the Gold Coast and we are delighted to continue our support of Homeless Connect for the seventh year,” says GCCF Chairman Greg Yong.
